Natural Side Effects

Emily Colwell Inner Dialogue, experiences, Words Have Power Leave a Comment

Many of you know I can be a TALKER!! But Saturday was different. I wasn’t full of words. In fact, I found myself wondering where they were.

My family and some friends went camping this weekend. I’d planned to go, but as the weekend approached, I could feel I needed to stay home. Instead, I met up with them for the day. And that’s when I found myself wordless…which frustrated me. I was irritated by this wordlessness and began pressuring myself to contribute to the conversation.

This went on for about 30 minutes until I suddenly wondered, “Huh. Why the heck CAN’T I be wordless today?! I mean, it’s how I’m feeling, right?” And I dropped back into my body and my view from the inside of me rather than the outside.  A natural side effect of this was that it created space for my wordlessness to be here.

Do you ever find yourself viewing you from the outside rather than from the inside? That’s the view I knew for sooooo long! I watched myself living my life from the outside and tried like hell to determine whether I was doing ok according to others’ perspectives. And you know what? It turns out it’s so much less stressful when I navigate things from the inside now and suddenly my perfectly imperfect life feels just right.

What kind of day are YOU having? Is there room for wordlessness or whatever else feels real to you today? Does it change your experience when your view shifts from the outside to the quiet, wise perspective within? I’d love to hear.

And if you’re looking for ways to more easily tap into your own inner perspective, join my upcoming webinar series, as this is always a natural side effect of my classes! You will not only learn about but will experience the effect of simple tools that enable us to more readily navigate our lives from this wise, peaceful place within us. You’ll finish the series feeling room was created for your perfectly imperfect life to feel more right.

Expanding PossibilitiesWebinar Series starts in TWO weeks!!

Warmly,

Emily Colwell, MSSW, ND
